Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT)

What is Mild Hyperbarics (HBOT)?

Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a way to safely and effectively increase oxygen uptake in the body by raising barometric pressure within a comfortable chamber.  The chambers here at USW will reach a pressure of 1.3 ATA (atmospheric pressures), which is 30% greater than normal.

When you combine that kind of pressure with 4.24 PSI of oxygen delivered through an oxygen mask, the inhaled oxygen can be more easily absorbed into blood stream and can travel to areas of the body that under normal circumstances would be harder to get to.

Oxygen is essential to normal body functionality, but when pure oxygen is delivered inside a hyperbaric chamber, it is better able to saturate cerebrospinal fluid, synovial fluid, blood plasma and lymph.

Your Hyperbaric Experience

Utah Sports and Wellness has 2 mHBOT chambers which provide a significantly less expensive option when compared to the larger, institutional steel chambers found in many hospitals and clinics. Patients are able to easily get into the chamber fully clothed.  You will be able to lie down comfortably and read, listen to music, use your phone or tablet, or even just sleep.  The treatment lasts about an hour and throughout that time we will check in on you through the plastic window of the chamber to make sure you are comfortable. Most patients usually respond with a thumbs up or a smile (but snoring is fine too!).

After your treatment session is over, you will be able to continue about your day.  We recommend you try some physical activity to test the results of your treatment.
